This ends up as my last flight of the Mansfield encampment.
Nice way to finish. Good flights and good friends.

Mike,

You've really gotten good at creating these vids - I really enjoy them.
This one was especially interesting (besides the great in-flight footage) because of the additional tow-rig photos and scenes. While I'm not terribly familiar with truck towing in general, it seems like this vehicle has some great rigid-specific mechanisms. It looked like the outriggers are adjustable - is Martin's control frame smaller than yours? Someone has some machining skills!

Martin and Mia have a place in Mansfield, they come down a lot during the summer for towing and chasing the "big ones" and personal bests. (Most all of mine have come from there)
Used to be a larger group that would flew.
Its been whittled down to me the last few seasons.
The phrase "Mansfield Encampment" was coined a while back :)

Hey thanks, appreciate the compliment.

The rig, including the winch (which tows amazingly smooth) was all custom built by Martin. He knows and can build pretty much anything,
Same control frame size. They are designed to drop down and forward to allow easy loading of the glider.
They are also adjustable for sweep. (Although the current rigids using it are the same sweep)

I'll have to ask Martin. Not sure how receptive he'll be.
Thats why its been whittled down. Towing more that two with no other ground support becomes a headache for the tow op and retrieving, we can only fit two rigids on the car.
Tekoa is good, (We get locked out during high fire danger) Parker / Inklers can be good to. (Limited XC, unless you get creative
Chelan butte is very reliable.
Just throwing some info out there. Be fun to have you in the area.

Platform launching is the best! I cut my teeth on it and it's responsible for 90% of my launches and learning to fly!

That rig is the best I've ever come across anywhere. Flying with Launch Potato and company would be bucket list material for me. Did you see the sky in the opening shot of that movie!!!!! Man it's like a dream come true.

Dave,

My family commitments don't allow me to stray far from home. NorCal is my radius these days. Gone are the days of week-long flying trips - at least for the next few years.
