I have heard it said that a solid prop gives more thrust than a folding prop. Does anyone have any evidence of this?

I have a Mosquito NRG and I like to thermal with it, so a folding prop is a plus.

If you have a solid prop, do you put your prop brake on before you land, or do you come in with free-wheeling propeller?
