1) Where is Kario?
2) The sled run and the sinkouts were what I had expected. Did it ever get over 8 knots? Cuz I don't get how those dudes soared. I've never been able to ridge soar something that height with less than 15mph minimum, and seldom if ever at a big mountain with only 8 knots! What don't I get?

1. Karioitahi Beach (Kario Beach) is on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand, some 40 miles SW of Auckland.

2. The wind gusted up to 10 knots when we took off. Once you get above the main ridge (300 ft ASL), the wind strength is a little higher, making staying up easier (until the wind drops, which it did). Yes, if the wind was a constant 8 knots, it would be a sledder straight to the landing area.
