Yup, after completeing Alps crossing from Monaco to Slovenia he died as test pilot of new construction glider.

Wow that brings back some memories . Steve was competing in a hang gliding meet in Texas at a small hill called Buffalo Gap . Oil man by the name of Jack Grimm had the meet on his Ranch , he constructed a small ramp that they could move to the changing wind direction . One day the winds were not good for flying and he let people watching the meet go to the top of the hill , while on top Steve was telling the story of this trip with his dad , later got to see it on TV . It very cool to hear him tell the story first hand and then see it . Steve was an awsome pilot and was doing well in the comp . I was a novice at the time still trying to get my first soaring flight and was just there to watch but still had a great time . thanks! Mark
