Jane Campbell, owner of the Campbell Ranch, Calistoga, CA, and friend of Hang Gliding, passed away peacefully in her sleep, September 20th, 2018, aged 92.

At our local site - the gorgeous Mt St. Helena, at the North end of Napa Valley, Jane's ranch was the only safe landing option in a sea of vineyards and forests. For over 20 years Jane allowed Sonoma Wings and their guests to use it as a sublime LZ, a 50+ acre flat meadow of grass and carpets of wildflowers.

And Jane was the most wonderful and gracious and fun host you could imagine. Every time we flew there she would come over with a cooler full of beer, and often margaritas, and we would all party after flying, in this sublimely gorgeous spot, in a sea of blue lupins, with oaks for shade, and the mountain as backdrop. We had great parties there, and she hosted a Spring Fly In around the beginning of May, where everyone almost always got to fly, and we camped and flew and partied with unlimited food and drink, and sat around a huge campfire late into the night. Jane liked to stay up until dawn and would frequently outlast most of us. We took her up in an airplane, - she'd lived there most of her life but had never seen it from the air, or been to the top of the mountain, so we took her to launch. We gave her sailplane and balloon rides, and she loved it. We had pool parties and Christmas parties at her house.

Jane called us "her flyboys". We loved her and will miss her greatly.
