A friend I've known for 30 years is dying and asked me to take him up tandem. He lives up in Sherwood which is maybe 40 minutes south of Portland. I saw him last weekend and believe he is strong enough with margin for smooth conditions. Can anyone suggest a place within a couple hours driving distance of Sherwood that is likely to offer smooth conditions and a fat launch and LZ. I also need conditions to be somewhat predictable as its a 12 hour drive to his house from mine. Our time frame is probably now until late summer. Main thing is I really want to maximize safety if I do this.

Thanks
Dave

Dog Mountain, WA. About 2 hours from Sherwood. It overlooks a scenic lake and has smooth takeoff and landing conditions. But it's a regulated site so you'd need to do everything legit. Contact Cloudbase Country Club: http://www.cloudbase.org/
