I'm interested in what our favorite helmets are. No judgments or critiques needed - if you want to post a photo, that's OK but absolutely not required.

Please post about what helmet you fly with.

Arai VX-Pro. It's a motocross helmet.

Charlie Insider
Very light, with a large field of view and not too expensive.

Icaro 4fight (short back). Love it.
I also have a Lubin as I thought it's so very cool, but I almost never use it. I got used to flying having my ears covered (and my chin/face protected since it makes my living) and I feel best this way. I use a clear shield and no sunglasses.

Lubin Aero and, on occasion (winter usually), Charly No-Limit with visor.

I have a Charly Insider, but I'm interested in something with a visor.

I just bought a Fox Rampage down hill mountain bike helmet. It's a very lightweight ATSM 1952 certified helmet.

My favorite of all the helmets I've owned: Bell Javelin TT bicycle racing helmet with built-in face shield:

There appears to be some terminology confusion on this thread.

The first helmet below has a VISOR.

The second has a FACE SHIELD.

You probably don't want a visor on a hang gliding helmet, as it would restrict your forward and upward vision.

(No doubt someone can post a photo of a helmet for sale with a face shield that they are calling a visor but, as with many things on the internet, it would be wrong)

I stand corrected :)

I would like a helmet with a FACE SHIELD :)

Very nice Tom. Give us a critique on the helmet when you get a chance.

I fly with a Giro Selector II cycles helmet. It has good ventilation and I can feel and hear the wind perfectly while still not getting too cold. The clear visor I have is optically very good which is nice for depth perception. I found that full-face helmets were kind of horrible acoustically, just my personal preference ...

Been flying with a Charly Insider since I started, recently bought a Kali Prana and have flown with it once so far. Took off the visor, and am planning to add a modified chainsaw face shield.

Icaro Skyrunner. It's one of the few helmets that fits my XXL head.

I'm still looking for more input. Everyone's got at least one helmet - tell me what you use!

I have an Icaro Skyrunner that needs to be retired - it's 15 years old. I'm shopping for a replacement. I'm leaning toward an open face. Here's what I've been looking at so far:

Lubin Aero - foam only 1/4 inch thick, or should I say thin. IMO a deal breaker.
Giro Range has "MIPS", would like to try one on for a test fit.
Giro Nine w "MIPS" technology.
Icaro 4fight - many of 'em appeal to me.
GEO Explorer Pure
