The locals are ice skating on Mt Hough's Crystal Lake. Maybe not so unusual for northern climate folks, but it's something of a novelty in California. Mt Hough is typically snowed in deep this time of year.

For those who haven't flown Mt Hough, here's a vid of launching, then soaring over Crystal Lake, near the summit. A 400' cliff, flying out over the lake, then 3100' of steep mountain face to the valley floor. Typically a morning sledder, but midday flights can be rewarding:

Here's a pic I took over Mt Hough from last Memorial Day weekend. The lake below was still covered in ice and snow.
